Introduction
This article provides instructions on how to map a Ranger Pro endpoint (EP). This hardware is used in hazardous environments up to Class 1 Div 1 or Zone 0/1, and is manufactured by Baker Hughes.
The sensor must be physically in your hand to map it, so be sure that the sensor is accessible before starting the process.
Which sensor number to use
Use the number on the top of the sensor throughout the mapping process. Don’t use the serial number on the body.
Map the Ranger Pro Sensor
After installing the endpoint on the machine, map and validate it to its machine using the Halo app. Repeat for each installed endpoint.
Map the gateway to the machine
1: Log into the Halo app. If you don’t have the app installed, scan the following QR code with your Android camera to download it.
2: Begin mapping. Go to the Field jobs page and select the active job. Then select the area where the machine is located.
3: Select the applicable machine from the list
4: Select the machine bearing you want to map.
5: For each machine's first endpoint, you must select the gateway then map and verify the first endpoint.
6: Verify that there is a gateway mapped to the machine. if so, click Save. The node appears on the machine page.
7: If there is no gateway to map to the machine, use the following article to map the gateway to the endpoint - Setting up a Cordant Edge Gateway. A gateway cannot exist without having at least one sensor mapped to it.
Map sensor details
1: Select the machine bearing you want to map.
2: Scan the endpoint using one of the following two methods.
Option 1 - NFC
Enable NFC scanning on your phone and hold the phone close to the endpoint until the scan is complete. If it fails, enable NFC and scan again; or use option 2.
Option 2 - Manually enter the MAC
Tap T to manually enter the 6 characters of the MAC address. Go to Which sensor number to use to see where this is located.
3: On the bearing page, provide the mounting and orientation details of the endpoint.
4: On the same page, go to the Endpoint photos section and tap the camera. You can take up to three photos of how the endpoint is mounted on the machine.
5: Tap Apply and then tap Apply to endpoint. This starts the configuration process.
Map the sensor to the machine and gateway
1: Hold the phone near the endpoint to map the machine to the endpoint.
2: Hold the phone again near the endpoint to map the endpoint to the gateway. Keep the phone near the endpoint until this step is done.
3: You’ll see a success message that the endpoint was mapped.
5: Tap Save to complete the process.
After you’ve finished mapping, you should validate the sensor on the Cordant Edge web interface. See Using the Cordant Edge Web Interface for details.
