For the best security, performance, and reliability, we recommend the following configuration. For the complete list, see Halo IoT Networking Requirements (Halo IoT Network Requirements article).
Security: WPA2-PSK (AES)
This is the most secure personal version of WPA2 and uses the latest AES encryption method. WPA2-PSK (AES) uses long passwords to secure data and offers a more secure network.
Use the 128-bit mode
Make sure there are no other authentication steps to gain access.
Passwords should remain static.
Passwords can include 94 special characters, including!, ", #, $, %, &, and more, as described in the printable characters table.
Network name (SSID): Visible
The SSID (service set identifier), is the name your network uses to advertise its presence to other devices. We recommend a dedicated network (DMZ, VLAN, and so on).
IP assignment: IP4 DHCP
We support the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
DNS server provided by the network
Domain Name System (DNS) is an Internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses.
Network band: 2.4 or 5 GHz
The 2.4 GHz band provides the most coverage but at slower speeds, whereas the 5 GHz band provides less coverage but transmits data faster.
