Troubleshooting the Ranger Pro Sensor

Updated over 4 months ago

Following are some possible issues and their solutions.

Issue

Solution

The sensor doesn’t turn on

  1. Check the physical state of the sensor. Make sure that there’s no water inside and no damage to the radio module.

  2. Check that the battery isn’t drained. Try replacing the battery. See Replacing a Ranger Pro battery for details.

  3. If the sensor still doesn’t turn on, mark it clearly as a faulty sensor, record the SN and the reason you are returning it, and send it back to Augury.

Can’t scan using NFC

  1. Check that your phone case is not blocking the NFC

  2. Check if the battery is inserted correctly, or check if the battery is faulty and, if necessary, replace the battery.

  3. Make sure that you adjust your phone position to get the NFC reader right above the sensor.

Failed mapping using the app - Inventory issue

  1. Notify Augury support, mark this sensor clearly as ‘not in inventory’, and replace the sensor with another unit.

  2. If added to the inventory in a timely manner, use it for another machine; if not, record the SN and the reason you are returning it, and send it back to Augury.

Failed mapping using the app - sensor in use

  1. Check if the sensor has been mapped to a nearby machine.

  2. If not found, notify Augury support regarding this issue, mark this sensor clearly as ‘in use’, and replace the sensor with another unit.

  3. If the issue is resolved in a timely manner, use it for another location; if not, record the SN and the reason you are returning it, and send it back to Augury.

Sensor is not communicating post installation

  1. Inspect the sensor- physically go to the endpoint and verify that it’s actually mounted on the machine and that it’s within the range of the gateway.

  2. Verify that the SN on the sensor is the same as on the alert. The SN is the first line on the top of the sensor. If it’s not the same, remap it using the Halo app (it could be that someone replaced the endpoint and did not remap it).

  3. If the sensor still doesn’t communicate, change a battery and verify that the module connection is intact.

  4. If it’s still not working, replace the sensor/endpoint and remember to map it.
