Machine & IoT Health Notification Types

Updated over 4 months ago

Introduction

This article will review the notification types you can and will receive from Augury under certain conditions.

It’s important to us and your Machine Health that you stay connected to the Machine Health statuses even if you are not working on the platform.

To achieve that, we provide you with a notification to your email:

  • Weekly emails

  • Trigger-based emails

To learn how to set and customize the machine settings, read the “Platform Settings” article.

Why are these notifications so important?

Timely response

When sensors detect an issue, the quicker the response, the less potential damage is likely to occur.

Fast response times can minimize downtime, reduce repair costs, and prevent catastrophic failure.

Settings the notifications properly ensure that the right people are alerted immediately when there's a problem.

Preventive maintenance

With a properly configured notification system, maintenance can move from reactive to proactive mode.

Optimize resource allocation

Correct notifications help prioritize maintenance tasks based on the severity of the condition detected.

This way, maintenance teams can focus on the most critical issues first.

Avoid alarm fatigue

By correctly setting up notifications, you ensure that only significant and actionable alerts are sent, thus reducing the risk of alarm fatigue.

Compliance and record-keeping

Correct notifications help ensure compliance with monitoring particular thresholds.

The record of notifications can provide valuable data for later analysis and insights into system performance.

What are the notification types?

Health updates, repairs, comments, and baseline report

Weekly emails are essential in a well-rounded condition monitoring strategy, providing routine updates, identifying potential issues, and enabling proactive maintenance.

When leveraged well, weekly emails can be transformative for your reliability program for the following reasons:

  • MHI alerts, updates & and reminders for unattended alerts

  • Effective repair Sends notifications about successful repairs contributing to your Machine's Health.

  • Baseline Weekly Report - Weekly emails sent to you during baseline show progress in baselining machines and any new Machine Health alerts.

The machines are clickable, leading you to the machine page.

Machine Health SE & IoT report

  • Machine Health SE - An email is sent to SE users with an update on everything that happened on the SE machines that week.
These notifications will be sent according to the parameters you configured under the “Settings” option.

  • Clicking the machine name will open the relevant machine page.
Clicking the CTA will open up the Machines To Notice page.

  • IoT report - This report lists issues with IoT devices.
These notifications will be sent according to the parameters you configured under the “Settings” option and provide the weekly new totals + a detailed CSV.

You can set the notification preferences & timing from the “Settings” options.

Trigger-based Emails

Trigger-based emails are automated messages sent out when specific conditions, thresholds, or anomalies are detected in the operational parameters of machinery.

  • Trigger-based emails allow for swift intervention, potentially stopping minor issues from escalating into significant, costly damages.

  • By detecting and alerting issues early, these automated emails can help minimize machine downtime and keep productivity levels high.

  • Over time, data from these triggers can feed into predictive maintenance models, helping to anticipate and prevent future machine failures.

  • Alerting about machine malfunctions or failures can help prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Here are the several types of trigger-based emails that are delivered:

  • AI Detection - Cliff Ready - This notification is sent when a Rapid cliff anomaly event is detected on a machine.

  • AI Detection - High Confidence - This notification is triggered by Artificial Intelligence when a cliff/trend/feature threshold event is detected on a machine with high confidence.

  • Threshold Triggered - This notification is sent when you set a threshold and the threshold is crossed.

You can customize these notifications under the Settings option >> Notifications tab.

User Tagged/Mentioned on machine page or thread.

These notifications are sent when you are mentioned or tagged on a machine thread comment in at least one out of two conditions:

  • You are assigned to a machine within the machine hierarchy (note: you cannot tag a manager or superior officers like in an organizational hierarchy)

  • You have a comment on the machine thread.

  • Analysts can comment on the “Machine connected” event during machine baselining to ask questions and assign the first health status.

Note that anyone who subscribes to the machine will be notified.
