Please follow the instructions below to learn how to replace the Halo R4000 Endpoint (EP) battery.
When to replace the battery?
Replace the battery in case:
After performing the EP Self-Test, the EP LED is blinking red.
EP in “Low"/ “Drained” battery status on the IoT health tab on the web platform.
Before you begin
Check the items below before changing the Halo R4000 EP battery.
Are you working in an explosive (Hazardous) environment as defined below (CI-D2, CII-D2 ATEX Zone 2)?
Areas are specified as hazardous when containing (not limited to) the following three fundamental components:When encountering a battery issue with Halo R4000-NHZ EP variation, designated for Non-HazLoc/HZ machines found in wet environmental conditions (washdowns, chemical exposure, humidity, etc.)
Remove the Endpoint and replace the battery in a non-HZ clean environment!
When encountering a battery issue with Halo R4000-WR EP variation, designated for Non-HazLoc, machines found in extremely wet environments conditions such as wash down, high humidity, or wet environment as part of the manufacturing process:
Remove the Endpoint and replace it with a new Endpoint. The battery in R4000-WR is irreplaceable.
While working on or near an operating machine, please follow the safety precautions required by the area/plant where you work.
Do not attempt to fix an EP installed on any equipment while in the proximity of any exposed hazards. Remember to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Don’t use batteries other than the ones provided within the Augury R4000 battery kit! (Kit and Battery PN’s may vary)

Removing the “Old” battery
If the locking screw at the bottom of the EP exists and is accessible, unscrew it using a 2.5mm hex (Allen) key.
If it is not accessible, remove the Endpoint from the machine it is mounted on and then unscrew.
Unscrew the EP cover and bottom locking ring.
Battery cover - push the middle, pull the sides outwards to unlatch, and then pull to remove the battery cover.
Note! The battery type/ cover/ chassis design may vary according to the R4000 version.
See Halo R4000 EP Compatibility Matrix.
Press on the top of the battery wire connector and pull to disconnect the wire and remove the battery pack.
Note! Removing the battery connector should be done carefully so it does not damage the connector mount. Only pull the plastic connector. Do not pull the wires!
Dispose of the old battery according to the local guidelines and laws.
Installing the replacement battery
Insert a new battery pack and reconnect the battery connector.
Push in the battery pack cover until the latches snap back into place on both sides.
Note! Make sure that the “O ring” seal is in place before step 3Insert the EP cover through the slots and tightly screw back the bottom locking ring.
Self-test, close, and validate the replacement
Turn the EP on by pressing shortly on the button located on the top of the EP and verify that the Self-Test passes (Both LEDs lead constant green for 5 seconds).
The EP should be stationary during the Self-Test.
Insert and screw back the locking screw at the bottom of the EP using a 1.5/2.5mm hex (Allen) key and tighten with 0.5 Nm torque.
Check the EP connectivity and battery levels using the Android Halo installation app.
Note! In case of Self-Test OR validation failure, refer to the Troubleshooting section within the R4000 Service Manual
