NOTE: If you use the 2nd generation battery replacement kit (KT00019), follow this guide's instructions. If you use the 1st generation battery replacement kit (KT00020), follow this guide's instructions.
Follow the instructions in this quick guide to replace the Halo AC00009 Endpoint (EP) battery.
When to Replace the Battery?
Replace the battery if:
The Halo Endpoint Battery Status blinks red after performing the EP Self-Test.
The Augury Halo app shows a Low/Drained Battery IoT alert.
Before you Begin
Check the items below before changing the Halo EP battery.
Caution!
Are you working in an explosive (Hazardous) environment (CI-D2, CII-D2 ATEX2)?
If the answer is yes and the EP is calcified, replace the entire EP and not just the battery.
Replacing a battery in HZ sensors is strictly forbidden.
While working on or near an operating machine, please follow the safety precautions required by the area/plant in which you work.
Do not attempt to fix an EP installed on any equipment while in the proximity of any exposed hazards. Remember to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
For hazardous locations, do not replace the battery. Replace the drained EP with a new one and send the drained EP to Augury.
Tip! If any of the criteria below apply, remove the EP, and replace the battery in a controlled environment.
Replacing the EP battery on the machine seems unsafe and cannot be done in a safe manner.
The environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, lighting, particles, etc. may expose the EP to physical damage.
Before removing the EP, note where it is located and how it is positioned. If permitted, take a picture to reference when re-mounting the EP.

Removing the “Old” Battery
1. Unscrew the four (4) M3 screws and remove the EP cover.
2. Turn the Endpoint off by toggling the switch downwards
3. Disconnect the battery wire connector from the PCB port mount.
Note! Removing the battery connector should be done carefully so not to damage the PCB or connector mount. Only pull the plastic connector. Do not pull the wires.
4. Extract the wires from the retention channel.
5. Using a 2.5mm Allen key to release the two screws.
6. Remove the battery cover.
7. Remove the battery from the EP.
Note! The Endpoint Battery and its plastic cover design may vary. Don't use the removed plastic parts, use the ones provided in the kit. Dispose of the old Battery and plastic parts according to local guidelines and laws.
Installing the Replacement Battery
1. Position the battery as shown. Ensure the battery wires can reach the PCB and can be looped through the retention channel without being over-stretched or pinched.
2. Place the battery in the EP.
3. Insert the wire through the retention channel.
4. Connect the battery wire connector to the PCB port mount. You should hear a faint ‘click’ sound as the connector latches.
Verifying Foam pad attachment
1. Verify that a foam pad is attached at the inside bottom of the battery cover, if not, use the spare from the kit.
2. Verify that foam pads are attached to the inside of the frame, if not attach two new foam pads.
Mounting the Battery Cover & Self-Test
1. Align the battery cover with the EP frame and push into the EP frame and down to firmly seat the battery.
2. Secure the battery cover by fastening two captive screws using a 2.5mm Allen/hex key.
3. Turn the EP on by toggling the switch upwards and verify that the self-test passed (Blue light blinking twice).
The EP should be stationary and on a flat surface during the Self-Test.
Assembling Endpoint Cover & Replacement Validation
1. Confirm cover is positioned accurately before assembling – smooth corner facing capacitor side. Ensure that the seal/gasket is aligned and in place. If it is missing or damaged, replace it with the one provided in the kit.
2. Assemble the EP cover using a 2.5mm Allen key. Use the NEW EP cover provided in the kit.
3. Check the EP connectivity and battery levels using the Android Halo installation app
