An Overview of Hierarchies
We organize the data into a hierarchy for each customer to simplify the data collection and review process.
At the bottom of the hierarchy, you have machines.
Machines
You will take readings on these machines using the Auguscope: chillers, compressors, pumps, and fans. The app also has an ‘other’ type that you can use to build other machines.
Machines are housed in buildings.
Buildings
Each machine must be tied to a building—be sure to indicate the specific location, such as what wing or floor room it is located on within the building.
You can add machines and buildings in the Auguscope app when you are on-site or from the web platform before you are physically on-site.
Every building must be tied to one additional level of hierarchy.
Facilities, Branches, or Regions
A few options are facilities, branches, or regions. Consider a facility as a campus with multiple buildings where machines are housed. A branch might be a subset of an organization located in a smaller geographical area. A region might be a large geographical area.
Each building has to be tied to at least one of the higher levels of the hierarchy. Every organization is different, and the hierarchy will depend on the organization's structure and preferences.
Generally, you are already on site when adding a new machine for the first time. You can use the app to add a building and create the machine in the Auguscope app to take the readings on-site. While on site, you can use the Augucope app to add buildings and machines, but you cannot add facilities, branches, or regions in the mobile application and must use the web application instead.
Adding Facilities, Branches, or Regions
Facilities can only be added on the web application.
To add a facility, use the toolbar on the left to navigate to the facilities page. Click Add Facility in the upper right, then enter the facility details.
Click Save. When you save, the page will automatically redirect to the new facility page.
Adding Buildings
Adding a Building in the Mobile App
To create a building you log into the app. There will be buildings listed there that have already been added to your organization. If you are adding a new building that isn't listed, click Add. The required fields are marked with a red asterisk.
When you have completed entering in the information, click ‘Done’ and that building is created and ready to add machines into.
Adding a Building in the Web App
To add a building to the web application, you will navigate to the building hierarchy using the left-side menu. Click Add Building. Enter the specific information related to the building. This is where you can make a selection on the higher levels of hierarchy to link the new building into the organization's hierarchical structure.
Once you have added the information, click save. When you save, the page will automatically redirect you to the new building page.
The information you input about the building is printed on the reports we provide, so be sure the information you put is accurate.
Adding Machines
Once you have created a building or selected a previously created building, you can add machines.
By adding a machine, you input the basic machine configuration information to set the parameters for the Augury AI and Algorithms to analyze the vibration data. Most of this information is going to be found on the machine's nameplate, or you could do a Google search of the machine and find the information requested pretty easily.
If you have questions about the information asked for when creating a machine, reach out to the Augury support team to answer your questions.
In the Auguscope app, when you click add machine, you will see there are four major categories of machines and an other option.
Augury views machines as a single unit, so the motor and the driven equipment are part of one machine in our platform.
Fans and pumps are pretty straightforward. Anything with a fan, like a blower, would be classified as a fan, and any pump would be a pump.
Chillers can have multiple compressors, so if needed, you could configure the machine as chiller one compressor A and then make another machine that is chiller one compressor B, or you could have the option of ‘other.’
We can't predict every machine configuration, so we have the option of other so that you can create a machine representative of the machine you are taking readings on in the field.
When you create a machine from scratch, the ‘add machine form’ is divided into sections according to the machine components. The form updates as you go and the information required in each section is based on the information you provided in the previous sections.
The ‘add machine form’ contains three types of fields:
Red is mandatory.
Orange is highly recommended.
Black is optional.
Although all fields are not mandatory, filling in as many fields as possible is strongly recommended. The more information you provide about the machine, the better the analysis, diagnosis, and recommendations Augury can provide.
One key thing to note is that you can edit the machine's metadata before or after you take a reading, but do not edit the metadata while you are taking a reading. Wait until you submit the session and send the data to Augury.
Duplicating a Machine
If you are taking readings on the same type of machine over and over, you have the option to duplicate an existing machine and use it for the new machine. To do this, go to the machine you want to copy, click duplicate, and then modify the details of the machine in the app and click done.
Duplicating a machine saves you time from creating a machine from scratch and ensures accurate configurations. However, keep in mind the following to make sure it’s done correctly:
Double check the machine meta data against the name plate of the machine. Please note that when you duplicate a machine, information such as the Machine Serial Number is also copied to the new machine. Be sure to review the information on the new machine before saving to make sure the metadata accurately reflects the new machine.
Edit the Naming and location of the new machine so that it falls under the correct hierarchy within the organization.
Linking Hierarchies
While on-site, add a building and create the machine in the Auguscope app to take the readings on-site. You cannot add higher levels of the hierarchy within the app.
If necessary, reach out to the Augury support team and we can link the building to the higher levels of hierarchy after you complete the reading.
