Curiosity, Collaboration and Determination!

We have been discussing a lot about Hi-Tech, SaaS, AI, TPM, IoT, VR, and other transformational processes and technologies that today have the capacity to step-change our Operations, especially if we synergize them. We also have discussed justification, change management, adoption, interaction, and other aspects required for the success of their implementations. However, at the center of all this, people are required to make this transformation happen.

Machine and Process health technology will change significantly the way we do things in the plant similar to how Netflix, Uber, Airbnb, and Instagram are changing their industries, making our lives easier and giving us more time for things we enjoy the most. For this to happen we have to be open-minded and welcome the changes to gain anything. At a personal level, these new technologies bring knowledge, easier and safer ways to interact with machines, time to think and improve what we do, the opportunity to interact and learn with others, flexibility, best practices at work and at home, and different ways to advance our careers. Moreover, learning, speed, connection, and fun.

To start the journey and enjoy it, there are a few helpful qualities-skills that we can learn-improve-master at a personal level and also to teach, share and encourage in others for a collective benefit:

  • The curiosity that improves our learning agility
  • Collaboration for open exchange of ideas and experiences
  • Persistency to get us through
  • Passionate and positive attitude
  • Risk-taking.

Most probably we already use some or most of these, but doing it with purpose and in an integrated way is of great help when bringing in new ways of working successfully.

The new technology available to us nowadays has very little cost of entry, the capacity to transform our industry, and also significant personal benefits. The “What is in it for me” is huge as mentioned above but requires us to press the start button and make things happen. Go for it!

How are you encouraging your teams to adopt new technology?
